The Issues

Governance for WE the People by YOU the People
We need strong leaders who will listen and get to know YOU. Cache County is at a tipping point and together we face so many issues that we need to resolve for the immediate and long-term future. Growth is the main issue staring us all in the face. How we manage it affects all of the underlying issues of public safety, emergency services, utilities, waste collection, education, services, roads, transportation, and water. We need a conservative manner of governing from our leaders that will benefit WE the People because they have chosen to listen to YOU the People. The only agenda for any of our elected officials should be to serve the best interest of YOU the People. We need governance  from our leaders that serves the needs of public interest , not self preservation. Serving with honor and integrity, being willing to have difficult conversations and standing for and defending what they believe is the right thing; along with admitting when they’re wrong. These are the attributes our elected officials should have to govern effectively on behalf of WE the People.

Public Safety
“Protection of the general public.” This is how legal scholars define public safety. The men and women who take an oath to keep the peace, and protect our Constitutional Rights deserve our support now more than ever. We need leaders who will work to provide ample funding for the Cache County Sheriff's Office and the County Attorney's Office so they can be the best equipped, the best trained, and best prepared to handle any and all situations they face in the line of duty. Mismanaged growth can have a negative impact on our public safety. Growth is not a bad thing, but if not managed the right way it can put an immense strain on law enforcement. We need funding in place to recruit, train, and maintain the men and women to guarantee our public safety. I will work shoulder to shoulder with Sheriff Chad Jensen to see that they get the necessary funding to adequately serve and meet the needs of our ever-growing county.

Family Values
Just like you, I choose to raise my family in beautiful Cache County. Our families are the heart and soul of the communities in which we live. People who move here and decide to put down roots, say one of the main reasons is because of folks like you and me. The Cache GOP Platform states, "The family is the fundamental institution and strength of our society." I will do everything within my abilities to support, promote and defend the rights parents have to be responsible for all things related to their children. With the explosion of growth in our valley, we need to be vigilant to the opposing ideologies that can begin to take hold when people move in from more liberal cities or states.

Property Rights & Land Use
One of the most important tenets of a free society is that a woman or a man can own and control their property. Private property rights are being trampled on more and more these days by local government. We need to be respectful of all persons' property and be willing to fight for individual property rights, even when we disagree with what they choose to do with their property. This is like walking a tight rope suspending 1000 feet in the air - very tricky and one wrong move could lead to dangerous and disastrous results. Knowing and understanding private property rights and land use issues - the impact for good and bad that development could have on infrastructure, services, utilities, water, and the surrounding community - should be considered before rubber stamping planning and zoning requests. Smart and forward thinking, planning and zoning can lead to positive solutions when it comes to the surging growth Cache County is experiencing now and for the foreseeable future.

Preserving Our Heritage
Let's talk cheese & milk! Our dairy industry is still a very strong and vibrant part of our county's economy. Along with other areas of northern Utah, Cache County is still a leading producer of dairy products for the rest of the state. We need to fight for and preserve the amazing heritage we have in agriculture. The tremendous growth we've experienced in the last 10 years has been astounding. My family and I are part of that growth. We love Cache Valley and moved here almost 8 years ago to make this our home. I'm concerned that if the growth isn't managed properly through smart, long term planning, and making sure zoning ordinances benefit private property owners and NOT deep pocket developers, that we won't have anything to preserve. Not only do we need to preserve our agricultural heritage, but we need to recognize and to the extent possible protect the heritage of the Shoshone who were here long before any of us. I will work together with you to preserve our heritage.
